The Countdown Begins. . .

Everything seems like days away, but time is flying by!

The checklist is complete!

1. Venue is booked
2. Wedding dress is fully intact
3. Tuxedo's are being picked up
4. Bridal party is handled
5. Wedding bands ordered

THE LAST BUT NOT LEAST THING TO DO

6. GET MARRIED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are 4 days left until the big day. Four days left until my brother ties the knot. Four days left for my brother to really enjoy the life of a single man. There aren't enough words to express how excited I am to gain the sister I always wanted, and to join them on this special day is very exciting. Growing up, I never really experience the girly teaching about fashion and hair, because I had an older brother. Throughout my time of growing up my Friday nights were spent with my brother and his friends, just chilling at home or somewhere out and about. Now I've had my own share of friends as well, but it was also fun to hang out with the older kids, since my brother was one of them.
Coming from that to knowing that in just a few days my brother would be officially starting his life with his beautiful fiance is amazing. LOVE has never been so beautiful. We're all just four days away from putting on that dress and walking down the aisle. Four days away from my mom sitting on the front row shedding tears of joy, because her son is now a husband. Four days away from hearing them say those two simple words that changes their whole lives. Four days away from jumping over the broom and officially being called Mr & Mr's Sams. Four days away to cry with the bride and bridesmaids for realizing that in four days that day will be the day. Four days away from a kiss that is a lovely trick designed by nature to stop speech when words become superfluous.
Four days away from dancing the night away to celebrate the start of something new.

Four days away from saying "I Do!"

" To have known you and to have loved you has been the most beautiful dream. I can only hope that I never wake up."

The Story Begins. . . . .

Bowling Alley CX

Come visit your local bowling alley
located in the K.W Green Student Center

FREE for all South Carolina State University students!

The bowling alley inside the student center holds a great significance on the campus of SC State.
On February 5 1968 , South Carolina State students were denied entrance according to segregation that existed in Orangeburg, South Carolina. After the owned Floyd denied the students entrance, the next day started a protest and led into the Orangeburg Massacre.
The bowling alley went by the name of All Star Bowling Lanes.

Today, the bowling alley no longer exist, but the sign still remains.
In remembrance of this great piece of history we hold our very own bowling alley for South Carolina State University students to cherish and to remember a part of history that belongs to the university.

After college, Holly started cooking and making her very own  cookbooks. Her first cookbook that was published is called Southern Farmers Market Cookbook. Within 7 years, she wrote  published 5 more cookbooks of all different types of food and dessert. To purchase Holly's cookbooks, you can find and buy them on Amazon.com

Let There Be Light

In this post, I will be showing three different pictures with and without light to explain that I know the difference between all three.

The first picture is a bad example of a picture and what your set shouldn't look like. This picture is a example of a wide shot and no lighting. It's dark and you can barely see my face to know that I'm talking about any or everything. This is not the lighting you want if you are on the air or just practicing for film.

The second picture is a example of close up shot with lighting from all angles, including a black light. This is a good example of what your shot can look like if your shooting a one man ban. A good close up and personal shot with medium light. It's perfect just for one person!

The last picture is a good example if your doing a two man report. It has good lighting as well as a back lighting. It's a little shadow in the back but it's still a good two man report as a wide shot.

Orangeburg Massacre

The Orangeburg Massacre refers to the shooting of protesters by South Carolina Highway Patrol Officers in Orangeburg, South Carolina near South Carolina State University on the evening of February 8, 1968. The approximately 150 protesters were demonstrating against racial segregation at a local bowling alley. Three of the protesters, African American males, were killed and 28 other protesters were injured.

There was memorial created on the campus of South Carolina State University.
There's also a memorial service every year to hour those who were involved.
Here's a short video of the memorial. . . . . . . . . . . .

In a state trial in 1970, the activist Cleveland Sellers was convicted of a charge of riot related to the events, for events on Tuesday at the bowling alley. He served seven months in state prison, getting time off for good behavior. He was the national program director of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. In 1973 he wrote The River of No Return: The Autobiography of a Black Militant and the Life and Death of SNCC. Twenty-five years later, Sellers was officially pardoned by the governor of South Carolina.

SC State Crisis

On Feb. 10, 2015
A House subcommittee has approved a measure that would temporarily close South Carolina State University to allow the school to correct its finances.
The Higher Education and Technical Colleges subcommittee approved the measure on a 3-1 vote Tuesday afternoon. The bill still must go to the full House Ways and Means committee, and potentially the entire House, for consideration.
If approved, the school would shut down July 1st, would remain closed for the entire 2015-2016 school year, and would reopen in fall of 2017. All programs, both academic and athletic, would be affected. The school's president and board of trustees would be fired, and faculty and staff would be dismissed. Students who have a 2.5 GPA or higher and qualify to transfer to another in-state school would have their tuition paid for up to four years.
Here's a link of the meeting, of when the committee met to talk about the future of my university.

As a university ambassador, my concerns were all over the place. I have cheered for 2 years for this university, and I am glad to say that I chose SC State and that I love my HBCU. I always kept my faith high and my head even higher, because there was no way you can just close down a university with an overnight decision. Although my parents concerns were slightly different, I was told to start to find options but knowing that if i would have to transfer I wouldn't be happy at any other school unless it was South Carolina State University. Now knowing that everything will be okay, I am proud to show and tell that I am a product of South Carolina State University.
Here's a great link to show our school pride as students and alumni

GO BULLDOGS!

Apple's Wristy Wonder

What will be next for Apple?

Apple is known for making many popular products from the Mac, iPod, iPad, and iPhone, and now the new well thought through and amazing Apple Watch.

Apple has launched a new line of technology better known as the Apple Watch. The new wearable technology!

For my own personal reasons, I am not really a big fan of the new "cell phone watches." They just don't appear amusing to me, and I was never a big fan of watches unless they make my wrist glisten like glitter or was an accessory to my outfit for that day or so.
But I totally think that the Apple Watch was a brilliant idea, any genius or "computer freak" would definitely buy it to go along with their very own iPhone or maybe just to look cool.

Here's a link to show you a short demo video on how the Apple Watch works, and its features.

Is the Apple Watch considered a hit or miss?

Cons
One of the cons for this wristy wonder is that the it is not water proof, so one hit of water and its time to say your goodbyes. But it is also a work in progress.
They are very pricey.

Pros
The great things about these watches is that they are not only used to tell time, but they are a business tool, with the assets of privacy.
They also come in many colors and styles.

Will these watches be used for good or will they take over as being a new phone?

the thinking process. . . .

Ever wonder what it's like to walk in someone else's shoes or to be in the presence of someone else's life?

To be the all-star of the football or basketball team. To be the smartest person in the class. To be the hottest girl on the cheer leading team, or to just be that simple individual that gets walked by everyday.

It's all about the human perception, and the view from the top.
To know someone is to communicate and to communicate is to be friendly. But is there ever a time where you toke a moment to daydream about the individual you would've been without the sports, without the makeup, without the high fashion, the dance moves and the education?
Would we all be counted on the same level, or is there still some type of separation?
Will one be called sorry for not making the first touchdown and/or shot? Or be called ugly and a loser for not making the cheer leading team? Or be called stupid, for being high in fashion and popularity?

Maybe you should take a moment and think about that.
